Dear God
As if with a blink of an eye, our school year is coming to an end. We give Thanks and Praise to you for our many celebrations and for guiding us through our challenges. We give thanks to You for Your gift of placing Fr. Keith Walder among us. Fr. Keith will be in our hearts and thoughts as we continue to pray for him as he walks the path You have placed before him. We ask, too, for Your Grace to be with all of us as we continue our mission to Live, Love, and Serve as Christ. Amen
Your St. Thomas School Family

Call for Fundraiser Suggestions
For the 2008-2009 school year, St. Thomas School will move in a new direction with fundraisers, planning only four (4) major fundraisers per year--one each for fall, winter, spring, and summer. We have three
scheduled: Magazine Sale (fall), Pancake & Sausage Breakfast (winter), Golf Outing (summer). We are needing to schedule one for spring 2009; one that could run any time during the period from March 1 through the
end of school. At this time, we are asking
for suggestions that will net the school $10,000+ profit. If you
have suggestions for a single fundraiser of this nature, please contact Lainey Hewing (485-5244) before July 15th to explain to her in detail your suggestion.
All four major fundraisers contribute to our being able to keep tuition down (we remain in the bottom 25% of tuition costs of private schools in Champaign County). These are fundraisers we will ask families to participate in by selling tickets, magazines, etc., as their part in this effort to keep tuition low. We will maintain other popular
"passive" fundraisers (where families are not asked to participate at a certain level) because they are popular and convenient, and over the school year, they do provide a steady stream of income for the school.
These include: box tops, Campbell's Soup labels, Market Day, old cell phones and printer cartridges, Scrip, Fannie May, and
grocery store/department store cash-back promotions.
We appreciate your continued participation in these profitable enterprises and look forward to hearing your suggestions.
Sports News:
We will be replacing the score board in the Gym at the school. Our current score board worked for over 20 years and during our past Volleyball season, the board broke. Due to the age of the score board and the new technology that is available now, parts for the current board are not made any longer so we have to replace it. The new board will cost approximately $1800. Currently, half of the cost has already been donated. If you would like to help the Athletic Committee in covering the remaining cost of $900 of the board, please contact the rectory at 684-2571 or you can send in the amount you wish to donate to the school office and place a note on the envelope: Attention Athletic Dept./ Score Board. Thank you!
